    Workflow

    • How much time do you have?
    • Look at the list of tasks.
    • How long will each task take?
    • Prioritise the tasks.
    • Work through tasks according to list.
    • Check on the time to make sure you are on schedule.

If your work has been prioritised and timed well, you will finish on time and be ready for service.

  • Do It

Time management is the effective and efficient use of time. Mise en place is an important part of time management; if tasks are not completed food service will be affected.

In a commercial kitchen or a bar it is important to prioritise your tasks to complete in the required timeframe. This can be done through a workflow plan.

A workflow plan determines the order in which tasks are carried out to make the work flow.

Workers are given set tasks to be completed within a timeframe. For example, preparation in a bar means that drinks will need to be cold and drink garnishes prepared before the bar opens.
